Emergency care
close [x]
Your dog’s safety is our primary concern, but in an active environment with a large number of dogs, accidents can happen. Running Paws will contact both you and your dog’s local Veterinarian on record in the event of an emergency.
Use of the Athletic Club implies your agreement that Running Paws is authorized to allow a Vet or trained professional to administer emergency medical treatment in the event we can not contact you for consent. If your dog’s Vet of-record cannot be reached, we will contact the closest emergency Vet available.
Feeding policy
close [x]
With all the activity going on at Running Paws Athletic Club, it’s understandable if your dog seems more hungry than normal when he or she gets home. We do discourage feeding during playtime unless necessary, as feeding can cause agitation and territorial behaviors. We will, though, handle feeding on an individual basis (dependant upon service) as we strive to keep your dog as happy and healthy as possible.
All Day Play feeding: Feeding is not recommended during All
Day Play in order to prevent conflict between dogs, and will be handled on an individual needs basis. If a dog requires to be fed during his play time at the Athletic Club, food should be provided with specific instructions. Food should be labeled with dog and owner name and amount and time of feeding.
24 Hour Care feeding: 24 Hour Care guests are required to bring their own food and provide specific feeding instructions. Dogs in 24 Hour Care will be fed one to three times a day, based on their normal feeding schedule. We will monitor and report the dogs food consumption during the stay, but please know it’s normal for a dog to eat less when he or she is away from home. If food runs outs during the stay, we’ll provide a house brand of sensitive stomach food (to avoid any potential irritations.) Any left-over food will be thrown out after a 24 Hour Care stay ends.
Personal items - beds, toys, etc.
close [x]
Although we want your dogs to feel as comfortable as possible while they are here, personal bedding or toys are not allowed in the Running Paws Athletic Club (as we can’t be responsible for any personal belongings.) A dog’s personal item can cause territorial behavior, which puts other dogs and our
team at risk. Additionally, due to the high-volume traffic and unpredictable nature, these items may easily become destroyed or lost.
24 Hour Care guests should not bring their personal bedding for overnight care. Running Paws will provide dog beds for those accustomed to sleeping with blankets or a bed.
Leashes and collars

Medication policy
close [x]
We want your dogs to be healthy
and safe, and will do our best to accommodate any medical
needs he or she may have.
Running Paws must know the
reason for the medication, administration instructions and
any side-affects or changes in behavior that may result from
the medication. Medication must be labeled with the
following: Dog and owner name; Frequency, time of day and
dosage of medication; Prescribing Veterinary name and
number; and any other specific instructions.
A surcharge may be applied
based on the frequency and difficulty of the medication
procedure.

close [x]
We welcome dogs of all sizes, from 2 lbs to 200 lbs. Our program offers customized fitness plans based on the fitness and health needs of dogs of all sizes.
All Day Play guests are separated based on their size, temperament and play-style. We have an intimate run specifically for our tiny guests. We closely monitor dogs interactions and do our best to ensure all dogs are having an active, fun time.
Health requirements
close [x]
Our goal is keep all dogs happy, healthy and fit! All dogs must be in good health in order to spend time at the Athletic Club. This doesn’t mean they must be in tip-top physical shape, this just means they must be without any known sicknesses or health problems. Owners must report any illnesses or health concerns to the staff prior to dropping them off. Because we care for a large number of dogs, we must have the right to remove or separate a dog we feel may pose a health risk to any of the other dogs.

Spaying / neutering

We're still working out the details of this requirement so check back soon for an update.
Temperament requirements
close [x]
Owners must let Running Paws know of any aggression issues their dog has had towards other dogs or people. We will do our best to avoid situations that may agitate any aggression without compromising the safety of other dogs and our staff. Our philosophy is that aggression can sometimes be a result of lack of stimulation and exercise for urban dogs, and will work with aggressive dogs and their owners on a customized fitness and training plan. If a dog becomes too worked up, we will separate this dog from the activity until we feel it’s safe to return the dog to the group.
Emergency local Vet

What is a dog athletic club and what is dog fitness?
close [x]
Running Paws Athletic Club
is a full-service “sports center” for our four-legged
friends. Our Athletic Club offers activities and
programs to keep urban dogs fit, happy, stress-free and
safe. We are dog fitness providers because we focus on
exercising your dogs- with indoor and outdoor runs and
socialization and play time.
Our All Day Play (daycare)
includes hours in our massive supervised dog run.
Supplement this play with either our indoor treadmill
sessions or our outdoor running sessions on the East
River. The club also offers other services to keeping
your dog physically and mentally healthy, such as with
training, grooming, massage and more.
What if my dog is out of shape?
close [x]
Out of shape dogs benefit just as much, if not more, than our fit doggy guests! In addition to the highly active play-time, out of shape dogs can supplement their days with indoor (treadmill) or outdoor jogs. While your out of shape dog is exercising, our staff will be carefully monitoring him or her for any signs of over-exertion.
Is your treadmill safe?
close [x]
Our indoor jogging sessions are on state-of-the-art, all new treadmills. The sessions are closely monitored by our staff, watching for any distress or over-exertion. Treadmill use is limited to 1 - 1.5 miles depending on your dogs fitness level. We will not allow your dog to remain on the treadmill for a distance longer than 1.5 miles so please don't ask. Indoor jogging is becoming more prevalent and is now found in homes, Veterinary clinics, dog daycares and even seen on TV.
Where do the outdoor jogging sessions take place?
close [x]
We're happy to offer supplemental outdoor jogging sessions from the Athletic Club along the beautiful East River. We offer 1 mile or 1.5 mile runs, private (paired with one other dog) or exclusive (alone.) Outdoor jogs are highly recommended for hyper or overactive dogs, out of shape dogs, aggressive dogs, dogs who suffer from separation anxiety and all dogs who appreciate and thrive on fresh air.

Where does my dog rest during 24 Hour Care?
close [x]
24 Hour Care dogs are fed their evening meal and then relax in our cage-less pen. Dogs rest in an open run area, where they can nap independently or snuggle up with friends. If necessary, dogs will be separated by disposition and habits. Dogs in 24 Hour Care are fed separately according to their instructions. After a night of supervised care, dogs join All Day Play in the morning. Dogs in 24
Hour Care can also schedule fitness sessions (indoor or outdoor) to exercise the stress of staying away from home.
